Walk a Highland Street Record
A sound street search moves from the physical address to a stable parcel key, then to other records. The Lake County Assessor XSoft search accepts owner, address, or property number and displays Property ID, Owner Name, Address, City, Map, Detail, and Services. It is the best first index, but ownership does not prove occupancy. Trusts, firms, public bodies, and owners who get mail elsewhere can all appear.
- Enter a distinct Highland house number and street fragment in XSoft. Save the situs address and parcel ID.
- Open the Lake County GIS Hub and locate the same parcel and street segment.
- Compare the owner and legal description with Recorder deeds. Search grantor and grantee names when street text fails.
- Use IndianaVoters only for an individual check. A street report requires the county request route and lawful eligibility.
- Ask the LCPL Indiana Room for a reverse or criss-cross volume from the needed year for an earlier occupant.
This sequence keeps the Highland street directory tied to dated evidence. Save the search date because parcel data, maps, and rolls change.
Search Highland Streets in XSoft
The broad XSoft screen works when an address is known. Clear Filters resets a failed query, and the grid can show 25, 50, or 75 rows. Detail opens the parcel card. Map supplies location context. Advanced Search adds filters that can separate similar addresses or isolate a class of Highland parcels.
| Field | Format | Use by street |
|---|---|---|
| Owner, Address, Property Number | Broad text | Find a parcel from one known field |
| District Name | List | Select HIGHLAND CORP (NORTH) 026 |
| Sale Date and Price | Ranges | Narrow transfers by time or amount |
| Year Built | Range | Separate old and new structures |
| Property Class and Style | Lists | Distinguish homes, public land, and vacant parcels |
| Map, Detail, Services | Row controls | Open the map, card, or linked service |
The live advanced list also includes assessed value, neighborhood, living area, acreage, basement area, bedrooms, stories, and housing plan. No export was found, so a broad street directory review may require moving through rows one at a time.
Inspect the Lake County Advanced Parcel Search before using these filters.

The captured controls show the range and selection tools available for a focused Highland address search.
Highland Address Fields Differ
One address can appear several ways. The situs is the physical parcel location. The mailing address is where tax notices go and may be outside Highland. A legal description identifies land by lot, addition, plat, or metes-and-bounds words, not necessarily today’s number. A registration address belongs to an election record. Do not merge those fields merely because one name appears beside them.
- Parcel
- A mapped unit of land with a county property identifier.
- Situs address
- The physical location attached to the assessor parcel.
- Plat
- A recorded map dividing land into lots, blocks, streets, or easements.
- Criss-cross directory
- A book arranged by street and number rather than only by surname.
XSoft’s inspected 3820 Ridge Road card makes the split concrete: the Highland situs has a Chicago mailing address. That does not move the parcel or show where an owner lives. It proves why every field must be copied as printed.
Highland Records Indexed by Address
No single Highland source lists everyone on a road. Address records overlap, and each has an online, office, request, or library channel.
| Source | Street contribution | Access |
|---|---|---|
| XSoft assessor | Owner, situs, mailing, legal description, class, values | Free portal |
| Lake County GIS | Parcel shape, adjacency, districts, layers | Hub or GIS request |
| Recorder | Deeds, transfers, plats, liens | Account portal or office |
| Highland permits | Project, owner, lot, work, inspections | Town office or APRA |
| Election records | Individual status or authorized existing report | IndianaVoters or VRG-24 |
| LCPL directories | Historical name and address entries | Indiana Room or librarian |
| USPS | Address and ZIP routing | Official ZIP Lookup |
Indiana’s Access to Public Records Act supports requests for existing public records. It does not require an office to create a new resident list. When the portal fails, use the counter, request form, library, or archive.
Map Highland Parcels Along Roads
The GIS Hub adds shape and place to assessor rows. Search or zoom to Highland, center the right road segment, and click the target parcel if the live viewer allows it. Copy the parcel ID and legal description, then open XSoft Detail. Repeat for adjacent polygons only when block context matters. Research did not verify a buffer, bulk selection, export control, or exact layer list, so none should be promised.
Highland’s grid has clear anchors: Ridge Road, Kennedy Avenue, Indianapolis Boulevard, Cline Avenue, Main Street, 81st Street, and 99th or 101st Avenue. The ward map divides town into wards 0 through 5. Lake County also posts individual HL precinct PDFs. Those maps locate an address within a district, but they name no residents.
Note: Record the map date and parcel ID because a street label alone may not survive a boundary or database change.
Follow Highland Deeds by Parcel
Once XSoft supplies an owner and legal description, the Lake County Recorder is the next custodian. A grantor transfers an interest; a grantee receives it. Search the present owner as grantee, inspect the instrument, identify the prior grantor, and repeat backward. Lot or addition wording may work when the Highland street number does not.
The Recorder portal sends public and advanced search routes to an account login. Official sources did not reveal the online index start year or full result fields. Ask about office access, older books, plats, scans, copy orders, and account terms instead of claiming every deed is online.
Review the Recorder search route before planning a remote check.

The capture documents the account gate and why an office channel remains vital to a Highland deed chain.
Highland Permits Keep Street Clues
The town’s building permit form records project address, owner, applicant, subdivision and lot, zoning, work, contractor, cost, approvals, and inspections. It can date a remodel, addition, demolition, or other change. Permit facts may explain why an assessor card differs from an old directory entry.
No searchable Highland permit archive was located. Ask the town for an existing file by address, date range, and permit type. A focused APRA request is more practical than asking staff to compile every person tied to a road.
Town records also provide ward, planning, zoning, redevelopment, code, and public-works context. The 2024 Highland Redevelopment Commission report lists 367 TIF parcels and $42,640,006 in incremental assessed value. Its schedule is a dated development layer, not a complete owner roll. Match a listed parcel ID to XSoft and the Recorder, then read related minutes for the project period. This keeps public investment facts separate from assumptions about private occupants.
Highland Voter Records Need Care
IndianaVoters asks for first name, last name, birth date, and county. It is not an open by-street browser. Lake County may process a VRG-24 request for an existing report such as a walking list, but the form requires an eligible category, signature, contact details, payment, and promises against solicitation and transfer. Address Confidentiality Program records are excluded.
A registration entry is election evidence, not a household roll. It can lag after a move and omits unregistered people and protected details. Use it only after a person is known and for a lawful purpose.
Ridge Shapes Highland Street Research
Highland history describes wetlands and settlement on a high sand ridge where Ridge Road runs. Spring, Cady Marsh, and Hart Ditches, plus the Little Calumet watershed, explain why drainage, floodplain, stormwater, and sanitary records recur around local land. Those names can lead to town minutes, map layers, permits, and public-works files.
The municipal complex at 3315 and 3333 Ridge Road consists of separate public parcels with different legal descriptions, though both are owned by Highland Public Building Corporation. A street result there describes institutional land, not a private household. Parcel boundaries and use types matter.
Named 2025 road projects include Wirth, Price Place, 38th, 42nd Place, Grace, Delaware, Condit, Woodward, Georgetowne, and Sara Lane. Pair a name with meeting minutes, permits, GIS, and the current parcel roll to study change. The project list dates public work along a Highland street, but it does not identify who lived there.
Older Highland Streets Need Directories
The Lake County Public Library genealogy service identifies local directories, microfilm, histories, newspapers, yearbooks, and school indexes in its Indiana Room. Public material does not list a Highland-only criss-cross run. Ask staff for the exact year, publisher, street section, telephone book, or county directory. The Highland city directory collections cover those historical shelves.
Search the address in a reverse section, then confirm the name alphabetically. Copy title, edition, year, page, street spelling, and abbreviation key. Compare nearby years for a move or number change. An entry proves only what that dated volume reported.
Limits of Highland Street Directories
Assessor and deed records identify land interests, not every renter, child, guest, or household member. Utility lists, school attendance data, and DMV addresses were not found as open resident directories. USPS validates postal routing but warns that it does not prove occupancy. Protected voter details remain confidential.
Commercial compilations can be stale and merge similar names. Prefer dated official rolls, document images, and library volumes, then verify with the custodian. The Highland street directory is strongest when two independent sources agree on the same dated name and address.
Use records lawfully. Highland address records support family history, civic inquiry, and fraud prevention. Never use them to stalk, harass, intimidate, or harm anyone.
